Worried about online payments?

To pay for your purchase, we use PayPal. PayPal is the company that handles online payments for us. If you want, you can pay with any major credit card (you still use the PayPal website to pay with your credit card, but you don't need to register for a PayPal account if you don't want to).

But I understand that there are still some rookies/newbs/old-timers out there who might be hesistant about paying over the internet. Many moons ago, I too was worried about giving out my credit card information over the internet... but not anymore. Here's why:

PayPal is the biggest player in online payments. They are a legitimate company. They've been around for quite a few years now, and have processed millions of payments. They claim their fraud rate is the "lowest in the industry".

Our payment system uses encryption: Once you go to the payment page, those using InternetExplorer will see a small yellow padlock at the bottom of the browser, indicating the connection between you and the payment site is secure, and can't be intercepted.

If you pay by credit card, the credit card has protection built in: Generally, you are not liable for any fraudulent charges on your credit card. It doesn't matter whether these charges are from a bricks-and-mortar store, a website, a mysterious numbered company, or what-have-you. (Check with your credit card company on this point; I don't know the fine print on liability for every credit card out there!).

Here at Practical Devices we've processed many payments from many customers, and as far as we know, none of our customers have ever had a problem. You can look at our customer feedback here if you want - All of those happy customers paid using PayPal, without any problems.

Personally, I trust giving my credit card info to a reputable website much more than I trust handing over the card to, say, the grubby attendant at the local gas/petrol station. Yes, you have to enter your credit card information. Yes, you have to enter your address for shipping. But, based on our experience, the risk of something going wrong is very very small.

So to summarize: Don't be afraid of using our online payment system. Everyone is doing it now!
